Democratic Rep. James Clyburn appears on CNN’s “states of the unionSunday with Dana Bash discusses Joe Biden and his performance in last week’s presidential debate.
He blamed Biden’s debate performance on “too much preparation.”
“So how did he do on Thursday, sir?” Dana Bash asked him.
“Yeah, it was a bad performance. I’ve been around these things. I’ve been involved in debate prep before, and I know it when I see what’s called prep overload,” Clyburn responded .
“Has there been any discussion about his resignation?” Bash asked.
“I haven’t spoken to the president since Friday and, uh, if he asked me for my opinion, I would give it as I always would, which is that it’s clear that he should stay in this race,” Clyburn continued. .
He also claimed Biden needs to prepare differently for the next debate.
“If you’re going to have another debate, the preparation for the debate needs to be different. There’s no doubt in my mind,” Clyburn continued.

Biden’s cognitive decline was evident during last week’s debate. No amount of preparation or change of strategy will help his performance in the next debate.
