Venezuela’s socialist government has issued a statement suggesting President Nicolás Maduro is preparing to invalidate the results of recent elections amid growing claims of foreign interference in the electoral process.
read statement the following:
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela condemns and warns the world about the interference of some foreign governments and forces against the electoral process, our right to self-determination and our country’s sovereignty.
The group is a version of the infamous, defunct and defeated Lima Group, which included government officials from Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic, as well as A group of right-wing politicians who specialize in destabilizing Latin American governments, such as Ivan Duque, Mauricio Macri, Andres Pastrana, Oscar Arias, Marco Rubio and Rio Scott, trying to distort what our nation says today in a peaceful and civil spirit, which is nothing more than the people exercising their right to choose.
In Venezuela, the right to vote is exercised in an absolutely free and legal manner under the protection of our country’s laws and under the control of the National Electoral Council, one of the country’s five public powers. It is accomplished through a transparent, secure and inviolable system recognized as one of the best in the world, fully guaranteeing the one-vote-one-vote principle.
Those who recognized puppetry in 2019 intend to impose it today in 2024.
This tragic and desperate action is destined to fail because Venezuela is a free and sovereign country that will never accept imposition or blackmail, much less attacks on our rights and people by foreign entities without morals and legitimacy.

However, despite the irregularities, Maduro was declared the winner, according to the Associated Press.
President of the National Electoral Commission Alves Amoroso said Maduro received 51% of the vote, defeating the opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez, received an approval rating of 44%. He said the results, based on 80 per cent of polling stations, marked an irreversible trend
But electoral authorities controlled by Maduro loyalists have yet to release official tallies from more than 15,000 polling centers, hampering the opposition’s ability to verify the results.
The delay in the results – six hours after polls were scheduled to end – revealed deep debate within the government over how to proceed after Maduro’s opponents came out to claim victory earlier in the evening.
Opposition representatives said vote counts they collected from campaign delegates in 30% of voting centers showed González defeated Maduro.
