If you’re a foodie like us, you’ll love these delicious food trends for 2025. The trends that will rock your world and taste buds next year. Let’s see what they are:
1. Chaos Cake
Perhaps in an effort to go against the perfect food images that appear on social media at every turn, one of our favorite food trends for 2025 has to be chaos cakes.
As the name suggests, this is all about making your baking messy. We’re talking about cakes in the shape of animals (especially mouse cakes for some reason, don’t ask us why, it’s just a thing!), cakes shaped like celebrities, cakes depicting funny moments from our lives, and even secrets Celebrity Cake Cake Obsession. The weirder the better.
These cakes are far from perfect, and that’s exactly the point. In 2025, we’ll be making fun cakes for our friends that look terrible and only remotely resemble what they’re supposed to look like. If you can imagine the celebrity version of The Great British Bake Off, celebrities have barely picked up a spatula in their lives, let alone baked. Well, that’s your goal!
2. Pierpechuma
Next year will be all about flavour, which you’ll see as we further reveal some of the other food trends for 2025. First, let’s start with pillarchuma. Pilpelchuma is a spicy Libyan sauce made from a blend of chili peppers, garlic and cumin. Hailed as the next harissa, this condiment can be used to enrich stews and sauces, serve as a delicious coating for grilled vegetables and meats, and can also be added to rice and pasta for deeper flavor.
You can also buy pilepelchuma seasoning, which is a dry version that can be used as a meat rub or can be rehydrated with water into a paste. If this is a little too spicy for your taste buds, you can try making your own and use roasted peppers instead of cayenne pepper.
3.Kimchi
The next food trend emerges due to popular content on TikTok and Instagram. In 2024, kimchi is on the rise, with Gen Z obsessed with the tart gherkin. First there was the kimchi eating challenge, where contestants had to eat as many kimchi as possible within a time limit, then quickly moved on to the kimchi juice challenge, and suddenly we started seeing all kinds of kimchi food trends emerge.
As food trends evolve in 2025, we don’t see this trend continuing throughout the year. After all, someone really wants their sandwich bread to be replaced by giant swaths of pickles (yes, we saw a fast food restaurant do this in the US and it looked disgusting). It’s a lot like Marmite – you’re going to love it, or you’re going to hate it. If you like kimchi, you’re in for a treat. From fried pickle dip, pickle cakes, pickle chips, and even pickle margaritas, the humble gherkin is set to up its food game in a big way in 2025!
4. Soda float
Do you remember making Coke floats as a kid? Just put a spoonful of vanilla ice cream on a cup of Coke (if you’re really lucky, it’ll be the Coke you made with your mom’s soda!), and suddenly you have that feeling of having the most boujee drink ever …The word boujee hadn’t been invented yet, but you get the idea.
Still, the soda float of 2025 will be much larger than the average coke float of the 1980s. It has an all-American retro diner feel, but with a touch of the 1920s. Expect to see everything from homemade seltzer (sans soda, we can add!), fruit sodas, over-the-top soda toppings, to root beer aesthetics and cream soda aesthetics trending on your socials.
5. Chili sauce
Remember when we mentioned that food trends in 2025 will feature a variety of flavors? Well, we’ve got another one for you! Chili sauce is a thick, spicy, salty, sweet, earthy flavor (seriously, it has all Flavor profile) Korean condiment used to infuse depth and umami flavor into the foods it is added to.
It’s made from fermented red peppers, fermented soybeans, glutinous rice, and salt and can be used in many different ways. Although hot sauce has been around since the 16th century, it has only recently made its way into the Western world. In fact, its popularity has grown since a contestant on this year’s Great British Bake Off used it to make chilli bread dough, with the judges loving it.
Due to its versatile flavour, hot sauce can be used in both savory and sweet dishes – for example, it tastes equally delicious in shakshuka-style baked eggs as in hot sauce caramel cookies. Keep an eye on this product as we could see it becoming a pantry staple by 2025.
6. Delicious cocktails
Many of us are looking to make healthier choices when it comes to our diet, and while some consider giving up alcohol altogether, others opt to drink delicious cocktails instead!
Because cocktails are notoriously sweet, right? We all know that too much sugar is bad for us. But next year we won’t have to worry about that, because we’ll be drinking feta brine martinis, spicy margaritas with a chili salt rim, and chili mixed fruit punch. Consumers are looking for new, adventurous flavors, and they want cocktails that can pair with and complement meals. Let’s face it, strawberry daiquiris don’t exactly go together with Spag Bol, do they!
7. Full fat
A few years ago we would have been horrified by the thought of eating anything full-fat, but we’ve come a long way since then. We now know that full-fat products are actually better for us (if consumed in the right amounts), and this will be reflected in food trends in 2025.
There are some good reasons why we should go back to a full-fat diet:
- Makes you feel full longer
- Contains higher levels of Omega-3
- good for heart health
- Contains higher levels of vitamin D
Consumption of products such as whole milk and butter is likely to increase by 2025, with flavored butter becoming particularly popular. We’re looking forward to trying the butter board – imagine a charcuterie board where the main focus is flavored butter and you dip your assortment of warm breads and breadsticks into it, they look crazy – so be careful because we’re sure they’ll be yours next year This happens on social media.
8. Zebra stripes
Don’t worry, we’re not going to tell you that zebra meat will be one of the food trends of 2025. No, zebra stripes means adding a glass of water, soft drink, or non-alcoholic beverage to your alcoholic beverage so you’re less likely to end up drunk in the morning and suffer the world’s worst hangover.
According to Alcohol Change UK, 215,000 people took part in Alcohol Free January this year, an increase of 22%. Gen Z has a huge influence on emerging trends, drinking an average of 20% less alcohol than Millennials and even less than previous generations. Sobriety seems to be a growing trend, but for people who don’t want to give up drinking entirely, zebra stripes are a way to drink in moderation while still enjoying their favorite tipple.
9. Tumu
We’re back with one last flavor-packed sauce to represent the food trends of 2025.
If you love garlic, this is the food trend for you. Toum has a similar flavor to aioli or garlic mayonnaise and can be used in a similar manner.
Here are some ideas for you:
- Dip into pita bread, chips, potato chips, vegetable sticks and more.
- salad dressing
- pizza sauce
- garlic bread
- sandwich spread
Toum contains about 12 cloves of garlic and is certainly delicious, but be warned, no one will want to come near you for a while after you eat it!
10. Edible packaging
To sum up the final food trends for 2025, we have edible packaging. Yes, you heard it right, the packaging is edible!
Edible packaging is big news as more and more people try to do their part to be sustainable and reduce waste. It can be made from a variety of different substances, including seaweed, algae, casein, starch, gelatin, and cellulose. Edible packaging is primarily used for products that break down during cooking, such as edible wrappers on soup cubes.
Not only does edible packaging help the environment by reducing food waste, but it’s also biodegradable (if you choose not to eat it), so it breaks down more easily and can also help keep food fresh.
Keep an eye on this space, as we predict that more and more food products will begin switching to edible packaging by 2025.
