Catherine, Princess of Wales, made her first public appearance on Saturday morning since announcing she had cancer almost three months ago.
The ex Kate Middleton, 42, returned to the public eye when she attended the annual Trooping the Color parade, which marks the birthday of King Charles III.
On her way to the event, Britain’s future queen, dressed in white, smiled and waved to the audience from her carriage. Her three children sat with her while Prince William rode in the parade. Later in the day, Kate stood beside the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and watched the Royal Air Force fly over.
Kate’s appearance isn’t entirely surprising. She released a statement on Friday night announcing plans to attend the festivities, adding that she still had a few months of chemotherapy left and was making “good progress.”
“I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hopefully attending some public events over the summer, but equally know I’m not out of the woods yet,” she wrote on Instagram.
After virtually disappearing from public view in late December, Kate publicly revealed in late March that she was in the early stages of chemotherapy. At the time, Kensington Palace said Kate’s absence from public events was due to planned abdominal surgery. At the time, Buckingham Palace said the treatment was not for cancer.
Just weeks before the princess announced her diagnosis, Buckingham Palace revealed that Charles, 75, had also begun treatment for cancer. Buckingham Palace has not revealed what type of cancer either Charles or Kate have.
