During the debate over holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress, Rep. Eric Swalwell accused House Republicans of disrespecting the 1/6 committee subpoena.

“Can we talk about the subpoenas? Because the last two of you who spoke have been ignoring subpoenas for over 750 days,” Swalwell said. “So when Mr. Jordan and Mr. Biggs came to this floor and wanted to talk about the subpoenas, Let’s face it when it comes to having a conversation and seeking justice. You start honoring your subpoena and we can discuss other people’s subpoenas.

Jim Jordan, Andy Biggs, and other House Republicans chose to ignore the 1/6 committee subpoenas, but now that they are in the majority, they want everyone to forget about that and focus on attacking another member of President Biden’s cabinet .
As House Republicans failed in their efforts to impeach Biden, they are now attacking other members of the administration. Attorney General Garland is under attack as the Justice Department refuses to turn over President Biden’s interview with special counsel Robert Hull. The Justice Department declined because it had provided the transcript to Republicans and they feared the interview was being manipulated and used for political purposes.
Rep. Swalwell (D-CA) is correct. Until House Republicans start honoring the subpoenas, they don’t have an inch of room to talk about anyone else.
