Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis defeated Christian Wise Smith in the Democratic primary as she prepared to face Republican Courtney Kramer in November ) campaign. Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, meanwhile, easily won a full term.
Willis’ victory over Wise Smith was never in doubt. But she hopes to up the score and put herself in a strong position against Wise Smith in November, when Trump allies are likely to rally around Kramer. Even so, Willis is expected to retain his seat in the Democratic bastion.
Her allies hope a landslide victory will put a seal of approval on the way she runs her office and her strategy for conducting the high-profile Trump trial, which is likely to be delayed due to an appeals court finding it a challenge. 2025.

Willis undoubtedly doesn’t make many national media appearances, but sat down with Rachel Maddow to talk about her accomplishments as a district attorney and how Republicans in the Georgia Legislature never saw the need for local The fact that prosecutors provided oversight helped Willis.
DA Willis is expected to easily retain his job in deep-blue Fulton County in November. Willis’ supporters hoped to deliver a major victory message on primary day, and they accomplished the task as her interview served as a reminder of Rachel Maddow’s power to sway Democratic voters.
