Former Paypal CEO David Marcus has announced that he is switching to the Republican Party and will support Donald Trump in November.
That makes Marcus the latest in a long line of tech figures to support Trump. He has received strong support from top executives in Silicon Valley this election cycle.
That’s just another aspect of this election that’s different from 2020.

Former PayPal president David Marcus announced that he has switched political parties and is supporting Donald Trump through X (the site formerly known as Twitter).
The tech entrepreneur, who most recently led Meta Messenger, announced that he would “cross the Rubicon and support the Republican Party” and the campaign of former President Donald Trump.
Marcus cites “an eye-opening disenchantment, a ground zero of lifelong faith, and a process of reconstruction” in his lengthy essay to reach his final conclusion.
“I’m crossing the Rubicon and endorsing the Republican Party and President Trump. Many people – including me – are stuck in a mental framework that becomes their identity and prevents them from taking advantage of new facts and information to fundamentally I finally got rid of it.
“My political journey has been a gradual shift from where I stood in each previous election. It has been an eye-opening process of disenchantment, starting from scratch with a lifelong belief and rebuilding from there,” Marcus wrote road.

It’s impossible to end this article without mentioning President Trump’s recent assassination attempt. His followers and critics alike were in awe of the courage and determination he displayed in the seconds after he was struck by a bullet. This man, however imperfect, in that moment embodied the American spirit in its most vivid way and began to unite a divided nation.
Some claim that President Trump’s re-election will bring our democracy to its knees. However, the alternative – running our government by unelected individuals with so much power and no accountability, coupled with four years of bad policy at home and abroad – could lead to far more significant consequences threaten. Neither situation is likely to change, and may worsen, in a Harris administration.
