Republicans, including former Trump administration officials, administration secretaries and governors, are backing Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Harris campaign released a list of current and former Republican officials who have endorsed Vice President Harris:
As part of today’s announcement, Harris’ fellow Republicans include endorsements from prominent Republican figures across the country, including former Trump White House officials Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troye; former Secretary of State Chuck Hagel and Ray LaHood; former governors Jim Edgar, Bill Weld, and Christine Todd Whitman, and former lieutenant governor Jeff Duncan; former congressmen Rod Chandler, Tom Coleman, Dave Emery, Wayne Gilchrest, Jim Greenwood, Adam Kinzinger, John LeBoutillier, Susan Molinari, Jack Quinn, Denver Riggleman, Claudine Schneider, Christopher Shays, Peter Smith, Alan Steelman, David Trott and Joe Walsh; Mayor of Mesa, Arizona John Giles; former Republican state chairman and state Sen. Chris Vance; Harris’s Young Republican Reed Howard; former Republican National Committee representative Rina Shah; and more.
The vast majority of the list is made up of former Republican administration officials, but there are some current officials who have crossed over to support Harris.
The Harris coalition being formed should look familiar. It contains many of the same elements that helped President Biden defeat Trump in 2020. Young voters are more excited about Vice President Harris.
On the other side of the election, what has Donald Trump done to significantly grow his voter base? Trump tried to divest black voters, but that idea disappeared once Harris entered the race. Trump can make gains among Latinos, but there are few potential areas for growth for Trump as even members of his own administration and party have come out against him.
Trump does not have a list of Democratic officials.
Donald Trump can only win elections with low turnout, and with a Harris coalition including members of Trump’s own party, the likelihood of higher turnout is high.
