Americans continue to flock to Fox News Channel for information and analysis.
Fox News bested the cable news competition in the second quarter of 2024 to top primetime for the 90th consecutive quarter, while CNN hit a 33-year low in news in key categories.
Fox News averaged 1.3 million daily viewers, while MSNBC had 810,000 daily viewers and struggling CNN had just 473,000. Fox News will air “The Ingraham Corner,” “Jesse Waters Primetime,” “Hannity” and “Gutfield!” from 7 to 11 p.m. ET. The average viewership was over 2 million, compared with 1.2 million for MSNBC and just 618,000 for CNN.
Fox News beats CNN, MSNBC combined in both measures, and has ranked No. 1 in total daily viewers across all cable television for 13 consecutive quarters.

“The Five” averaged 3.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched cable news program in its second season. Starring Greg Gutfield, Jesse Waters, Dana Perrineau, Jeanine Pirro, Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford Jr., “The Five” is the first A non-prime time program that has topped cable news for 11 consecutive quarters.
“Jesse Waters Primetime” averaged 2.7 million viewers, ranking second, followed by “Hannity” and “Gutfield!” Angle” and “Outnumbered,” the Fox News Channel show, topped the list.
The most-watched non-Fox News program was MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” which ranked eighth with an average of 1.6 million viewers.
CNN’s most-watched program is “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” which averaged 716,000 viewers and ranked 29th among cable news programs. Although “The Lead” is CNN’s most-watched program, it still ranks behind 14 different Fox News programs and 14 MSNBC programs.
“FOX & Friends” has 1.1 million viewers this season and has topped the list of morning shows on MSNBC and CNN for more than three consecutive years. “American Newsrooms with Bill Heimer and Dana Perino,” “Faulkner Spotlight,” “American Reporting with John Roberts and Sandra Smith,” Martha MacCallum Story” and “Neal Cavuto’s Your World” also had strong performances to help keep Fox News ahead of the daytime cable news competition.
Fox News beat CNN and MSNBC in total Saturday and Sunday ratings, with “Life, Liberty & Levin” becoming the most-watched weekend cable news show of the season.

Not only did the Fox News show beat out the cable news competition, it also topped CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” ABC’s “The Jimmy Kimmel Show,” NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” as “Gutfeld!” “, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and CBS’ “After Midnight.”
Fox News dominates the advertiser-coveted adults 25-54 demographic, ranking among the 14 most-watched cable news programs. “Gutfield!” was the top-rated show in the key category, averaging 295,000 demo viewers.
Fox News averaged 154,000 demo viewers, compared with 85,000 for CNN and 83,000 for MSNBC. Fox News Channel averaged an advertiser-coveted audience of 214,000 viewers from 7 to 11 p.m. ET, with CNN drawing 120,000 viewers and MSNBC just 113,000 viewers.
Fox News was the only network to post overall growth compared to 2023, while CNN and MSNBC both posted double-digit gains in the key 25-54 demo. Despite hosting last week’s presidential debate, CNN’s demo audience hit a new low, its smallest among young viewers since 1991.
