Hi friends! Today I’m excited to share with you a five-day meditation and writing challenge created by Tiny Buddha contributor (and this month’s site sponsor) Nadia Colburn.
Nadia, founder of the online creative writing school Align Your Story, is a poet, memoirist, and yogi with a gift for helping people express their creativity on a deeper level. That’s exactly what she did in this challenge.
Each day’s fifteen-minute recording will guide you through a brief meditation, share an evocative poem, and guide you through a quick writing exercise inspired by the day’s work.
When she first told me about this challenge, I was intrigued because I know how powerful it can be to combine meditation with creative practice, especially writing.
By taking a few minutes to calm our minds and create mental space, we can maintain a state of clarity that can lead to insights about ourselves, what we need, and what we might want to do in the future.
This is exactly what I took away from this experience.
I was energized by the ideas the prompts sparked and delighted in recognizing a common theme in my writing—a consistent message that illuminated what I needed most at this time in my life.
I’ve been a bit disconnected from myself lately due to work, the demands of raising children, and a recent move. This five-day challenge helped me reconnect with my center and access the calm inner voice that knows what is best for me.
You don’t need to be a professional writer or even an aspiring writer to get something out of this challenge. It’s for those who want to connect more deeply with themselves and maybe find in their own inner silence some of the answers they’ve been seeking externally.
Some of Nadia’s past participants have noticed how easily their writing flows after meditating and how the prompts can bring them unexpected insights.
If you decide to try this challenge, I have a feeling it could do the same for you.
