game of Thrones Author George RR Martin, whose history of the Targaryen family fire and blood Now on screens as HBO and Max’s dragon house, has no direct involvement in the creation of the series, which is now in its second season. But he keeps watching, and so far he’s really liking it – and there’s a new addition that he likes so much that he hopes he came up with it himself.
if you don’t catch up Dragon House The fourth episode of Season 2 will be revealed on Sunday, and spoilers follow.
fans fire and blood Everyone knows that Blood and Cheese – the assassins hired by Daemon Targaryen to infiltrate the Red Keep – will appear early in the show’s second season. Daemon’s instructions were to murder Aemond Targaryen, the young man on the Green Team who was responsible for the death of Rhaenyra’s son Luke in the season one finale. It’s payback, “son for son,” as the season premiere title goes. But when the Ratcatcher (Cheese, played by Mark Stobart) and the Swordsman (Brad, played by Sam C. Wilson) enter the castle, they can’t find Aemond. Instead, they seized the next in line for the throne: King Aegon II’s son, when he was just a child, and chopped off his tiny head. It’s grim, a PR disaster for Black Team and another terrifying step up to all-out war for Westeros.
But there’s a new character involved: Cheese’s loyal dog. Cheese isn’t a nice guy, and he certainly isn’t always nice to his four-legged companions. But we see how closely connected they are when Aegon orders the public execution of all the ratcatchers employed by the crown – in episode two, “Rhaenay the Cruel.” You see, Brad didn’t know Cheese’s name, so the King thought he’d better get rid of them all to make sure the culprit was found. We see one particularly sad face as friends and family near the Mousetrap cry out in agony as they discover their loved ones dangling high above King’s Landing. A hairy one.
Martin posted glowing reviews of the first two episodes on his Not Blog, which he specifically praised Dragon HouseThe writers incorporated new details. “This show adds a whole new character,” Martin wrote. “Dog.” I…ahem…don’t usually like it when writers add characters to the source material when adapting a story. Especially when the source material is mine. But that dog is smart. I was ready to hate Cheese, but when he kicked the dog, I hated him even more. Later, as a dog [sat] At his feet, staring up…that damn thing almost broke my heart. Such a small thing…such a small dog…but his presence, his brief moment on screen, gives Ratcatcher so much humanity. Humans are such complex creatures. The dog’s silent presence reminds us that even the worst people, the mean and the mercenary, can love and be loved.
Martin also added: “I wish I could have thought of that dog. I didn’t, but someone else did. I’m happy about that.
