The Georgia Court of Appeals delayed Trump’s RICO trial until they hear an appeal of the decision not to disqualify DA Fani Willis.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported:
Fulton County’s election interference case against former President Donald Trump came to a halt Wednesday, with a state appeals court order halting any further work pending a ruling on the appeal.
That means Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who had planned to continue hearing the case, will have to wait until the case is sent back to him. An appeals court is considering whether to disqualify District Attorney Fannie Willis and her office from the case because of her romantic relationship with an outside lawyer she hired as Trump’s special counsel. The court is also considering an appeal from the District Attorney’s Office, which wants to reinstate six criminal counts in a racketeering indictment that McPhee dismissed.
This is a victory for Trump and his insurrection defendants. There will be no trial before the November election. Trump will run for president against Joe Biden in Georgia and will not stand trial as a RICO defendant.
This delay won’t matter if Trump loses in November, but if he wins, a scenario will arise in which a sitting U.S. president could become a defendant in a state RICO trial. If Trump is elected president, he will use the Department of Justice as his legal team and have taxpayers pay for his defense.
The appeals court’s stay is further evidence that the courts will not deal with America’s Donald Trump problem. Only voters can get rid of Trump and purge this country of toxicity once and for all.
