Apple has fixed an iOS bug that redisplayed deleted photos, including nude photos.
After iPhone and iPad users reported permanently deleted photos suddenly reappearing, Apple released an iOS 17.5.1 update to fix the bug.
Apple said in the release notes that the update “provides important bug fixes and resolves a rare issue where library-corrupted photos may reappear in the Photos Library even after being deleted.”
Mix and match speed of light
Rumors about a more stylish iPhone are circulating. Does Apple want everything to be thin and light?
Reports of the bug raised concerns last week after users on Reddit noticed deleted NSFW content and other photos appearing in their photo libraries, confirming our worst fears: none of the content was permanently removed . Some Reddit users also noticed that deleted notes and voicemails were returning in the Notes app.
It’s unclear if the error is related to iCloud sync, but when you delete photos on iOS, they will be deleted from your device and iCloud library after 30 days if you use the photos. User reports show photos from years ago.
To update your iOS, go to “Settings” > “General” > “Software Update”. The 17.5.1 update should be available for you to install. Maybe read about how to store nudes safely, just in case.
