Google’s earlier-than-expected Pixel hardware launch is coming – it’s scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 13th. Thanks to the leaks that have been popping up over the past few weeks, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Google has already confirmed the launch of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but the company may have a few other surprises in store, including the Buds Pro 2 and possibly even a Pixel Watch 3.
Here’s a summary of everything we know so far.
Google Pixel 9 series adds smaller Pro option
In addition to the Pixel 9, Google is expected to release two sizes of Pixel Pro: a larger 6.8-inch model and a smaller 6.3-inch model. This will be the first time the Pro feature is available in two different sizes, with the telephoto camera previously only available on the larger phone model.
As shown in images shared by Google itself (as well as many, many leaked images), the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro will also receive some design changes. Both the Pro and Standard versions have flatter edges, with a circular camera module protruding from the back of the device.
A spec sheet leaked by OnLeaks suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro model will come with an upgraded G4 Tensor chip and 16GB of RAM. The base Pixel 9, on the other hand, is expected to use the same chip and come with a 6.3-inch display and 12GB of RAM.
The cameras on both devices are also likely to get some upgrades, with a leaked spec sheet showing the Pixel 9 to feature a 10.5MP selfie camera, a 50MP main camera, and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens. At the same time, leaked information shows that the Pixel 9 Pro will be equipped with a 42MP selfie camera and three rear lenses, including a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 48MP telephoto camera.
Another report comes from Android Authority It is suggested that Google may add an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor to the Pixel 9 series, which is expected to improve some of the problems users encounter when using existing optical under-screen sensors. The Pixel 9 is expected to come in Obsidian, Porcelain, Rose, and Green colours, while the Pro model is rumored to come in Charcoal, Porcelain, Rose and Ecru colours.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold becomes taller and thinner
These three phones aren’t the only ones Google plans to release this summer. It’s also preparing to release its next-generation foldable phone, now called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold appears taller and thinner than last year’s device. This design change is also reflected in the rounded camera housing on the back of the device, which now houses two sets of cameras.
In terms of specifications, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is rumored to be equipped with a 6.3-inch cover screen and an 8-inch internal screen. That’s larger than the original Pixel Fold’s 5.8-inch external display and 7.6-inch internal display. A leaked spec sheet suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will feature the same G4 Tensor chip as other devices in the series, along with 16GB of RAM.
It may also feature a 10MP front-facing lens, with a 48MP main camera, 10.5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and 10.8MP telephoto sensor on the back of the phone.
Google brings more artificial intelligence to Pixel
With Samsung and now Apple working hard to bring artificial intelligence to their phones, it’s no surprise that Google is doing the same. A set of marketing materials leaked by OnLeaks suggests that, among other things, the new Pixel Screenshots feature “helps you save information you want to remember for later, such as events, places, and more.”
This is consistent with previous leak tracking Android Police, suggesting that the feature can “save and process useful details in screenshots” so you can search for them. This sounds a bit like Microsoft’s controversial “Recall” feature, but it appears to only work on screenshots you take manually, rather than scanning the entire device. Marketing materials also show integration with Google’s artificial intelligence chatbot Gemini and Circle to Search.
Leaked Pixel 9 ad publisher Android headlines (which has since been removed) gave us a look at a feature called “Add Me,” which appeared to use artificial intelligence to put someone into a photo who wasn’t originally there. Google also appears to be planning to update its Magic Editor tool to let you replace the background of an image based on prompts.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 regains wingtips
It’s been two years since the original Pixel Buds Pro 2 launched, and now it looks like Google is planning to update them. Leaked images from OnLeaks show that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 have a small wingtip that sticks out from the side of each earbud, sort of like a smaller version of the “stabilizer arc” on the original Pixel Buds.
Other small changes include a larger grill that matches the color of the buds, and a charging case that appears to have a small speaker (perhaps to make noise when using Google’s Find My feature?). The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are expected to come in four colors: grey, white, green, and pink.
We may have a good idea of what the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will look like, but we don’t know much about its specs. A regulatory listing spotted earlier this year suggested the case might come with a larger 650mAh battery. Beyond that, we can most likely expect the Pixel Buds Pro 2 to have the same active noise cancellation and multi-spot features as their predecessors.
Pixel Watch 3 with two sizes and a bigger screen
So far, we’ve only seen renders of the Pixel Watch 3, and the device has a slightly chunkier design. Unlike its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 3 is expected to come in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. The 41mm version is rumored to have a 10% larger screen than its predecessor of the same size due to thinner bezels.
Recent leaks also suggest that Pixel Watch 3 models will feature brighter 2,000-nit displays and ultra-wideband chips that should make location tracking more accurate. The 41mm watch is also rumored to have a slightly larger 310mAh battery that charges 20% faster than the Pixel Watch 2.
According to leaked marketing materials, both sizes offer up to 24 hours of battery life with always-on display enabled, and up to 36 hours with the new power saving mode enabled of battery life. Android headlines. The materials also hint at support for offline Google Maps, new camera controls when connected to a Pixel phone, and the ability to view live feedback from the watch on Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell.
Unfortunately, you may not be able to use the current Pixel Watch 2 bands with the larger 45mm device. One report suggests that the 45mm version has “changes” to the strap connection that may make it incompatible with smaller straps. It is understood that the 45mm Pixel Watch 3 may not have as many strap options as the 41mm version. Android headlines.
anything else?
It looks like we already know everything about Google’s upcoming hardware event, but the company might still have surprises in store for us. First, we’re likely to see a new “Google TV Streamer” that 9 to 5 google Leaked images from July were released. it looks like Way Unlike the Chromecast, we still don’t have any spec details.
That’s all we know for now, but we’re still some time away from Google’s August 13 event, which means more leaks are still possible.
