newNow you can listen to Fox News articles!
Yesterday, Politico published an article mourning the death of journalistic hubris. Author Jack Shafer lamented, “American journalism, wounded, limping, doubting its future, appears to be losing the one quality that has sustained it through the trials of a century and a half: its swagger.” Well. , “Injured and limping.” It sounds like they are describing one of Christie Noem’s dogs.
It’s not over yet!
But Earth says to traditional media: You can stop crying now. It’s over, you’ve suffered heavy losses. You’re less trustworthy than a week’s worth of tuna salad. Schaefer’s point is that journalism has become too timid, but his real purpose seems to be to call on his fellow journalists to take action and become tougher. Sorry, Brian Stelter can’t even do girl push-ups.
Now, Schaefer goes on to claim that there are some accredited journalists who are arrogant, but apparently his definition of arrogant is to despise half the country’s writers, because of course, they are all left or far left. This article is a bit like listening to your grandfather walk around a nursing home with the back of his hospital gown open, reminiscing about the crazy days of his youth. Or, if we’re talking about Biden – the front lines.
But this article proves its point cluelessly. If Shafer, a longtime media man in New York and Washington, intended to mourn the death of traditional journalism, he simply wrote its epitaph. Of course, on that tombstone, there will be a story about the “Russia Gate”.
Media Collapse: Why Journalism Is Suffering and Bleeding
What’s missing from traditional media these days isn’t swagger. Like Joe Biden’s gut, it’s control. Oddly enough, all those swaggering people in the good old days that Schaeffer cites would have been kicked out of the first newsroom they applied to by someone like Jack Schaeffer.
I’m talking about those drunken, grumpy, grizzled white people who are often abrasive, obnoxious, and politically incorrect. Think Lee Marvin, but with a typewriter. It’s the dinosaur that founded the country, but is now recognized around the world as a Bond villain. If Ben Franklin were alive today, he would be sitting in the HR department being taught by non-binary Karen because no women signed the Declaration of Independence.
But what really pisses Schaeffer off is that the media is no longer viewed as heroes. He wrote: “…due in part to declining status and constant irrational attacks from politicians like Trump, today’s journalists routinely experience ridicule and harassment at public events such as rallies and demonstrations.”
Yes, they are the Kilmeades of high school. So let’s get this straight: You sold us years-long lies about Russian collusion. You’re trying to convince us that an obviously genuine laptop is fake. You are applauding sham laws against major presidential candidates.
Are you crying now because Trump doesn’t like you? Because the rest of us no longer kneel? You’re lucky that we didn’t lock you up for your entire career because of RICO charges. But Jack does have a point: Today’s mainstream people are cowards.
Former CNN reporter Michelle Kosinski wrote on X about a recent dinner she attended in Florida that she claims still haunts her. “All were well educated and successful in their careers. They looked great! On the surface. It lasted about an hour. But slowly, over a few drinks, they started to reveal their true MAGA nature… ….”
wait. Are they polite? Did they pay the bill? Didn’t they burn down the police station? What betrayed them? I bet someone is going to call her a “b*****” for her traditional media elitism. Maybe that’s a bit of a MAGA swagger, isn’t it? See, it’s not about swagger at all. There are people who are more arrogant than them.
Trump doesn’t live in the minds of traditional media, he’s the damn landlord who keeps raising rents. He’s like a squatter that the owner can’t get rid of because he changed the locks. So what Schaeffer most misses is that this doom-fucking direction called journalism stems from the institute mentality and the groupthink he coddles.
Do the Shafers of the world really want to see how this profession is degenerating? Just look at the machines that produce these clones. But Jack can’t say that because he’s one of them, which makes him a bystander to the decline.
You’re not the snitch here, Jack. You are just another cog in the machine. Then, here’s a hint of what the man really thinks: Finally, he added, “No, Fox News is not arrogant.”
Sorry, have you met Trace Gallagher? He’s like a cross between James Dean and a Dodge Charger. But Jack felt the need to add that part because he knew it would be a reaction – there was a sense of swagger, but it came from all the places that he and his buddies hated.

So, Donald, go away, they have your companions on their minds. In fact, a lot of us are walking around with that in their little heads. Lucky for you, Jack, I don’t take up much space.
