House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) explains why Democrats panicking about Biden’s debate performance are self-sabotaging.
Jeffries’ videos:
Rep. Jeffries said:
I’m very aware of the lackluster performance during Thursday’s debate. President Biden and his campaign have acknowledged this.
This is undoubtedly a setback. But of course, I think setbacks are just preparation for a comeback, and the reality is that Joe Biden has faced and must make a comeback He has emerged from tragedy, trials, and tribulations throughout his life.
The moment we are in now is one of resurgence that will require all of us to work to articulate a forward-looking message about why democratic platforms are the best Be able to meet the challenges facing the American people, starting with Ensure every American has economic opportunity and the chance to experience the American Dream.
It’s time for Democrats to stop listening to the media and throwing tantrums. Joe Biden is not going anywhere, and changing the nominee would create more problems than it solves, dividing the party. Trump is a strong candidate. He is a former president with staunch support in a polarized country. The presidential elections are all very close, so while Democrats may have hoped that a 1/6 or Trump’s felony conviction would lead to an electoral blowout, that’s never going to happen.
Rep. Jeffries is correct. If the Democratic Party is divided, no matter who is in the lead, they are not going to win. Democrats seem to have forgotten how difficult it will be to defeat Trump in 2020, and why they failed to defeat Trump in 2016.
The chicks in the Democratic Party have had their moment. Polls show the sky is not falling. If Democrats want to win this election, they need to stop the emotional angst and get back to work.
