Hallmark Channel’s Mamie Laverock celebrated a milestone in her recovery after surviving a five-story fall from a hospital balcony in May.
The 20-year-old “When Calls the Heart” actress stood up and took her first steps in a video shared on her official Facebook page on Friday.
“Thank you surgeon, thank you for the prayers, thank you God. Mamie just took her first step,” said a caption next to the video.
The film begins with LaFrock sitting in a hospital bed with an eyepatch over her left eye and air boots on both feet, with two family members standing behind her before joining others behind the camera.

One paramedic stood to Laverock’s left side and another pushed a walker in front of her.
“I don’t know if I can still…” said LaFrock.
“I’m here to help,” a staff member to her right told her.
The actress then placed her hands on the walker.
“So what you can do, you can even push up out of bed,” the doctor advised LaFrock.
LaFrock grabbed one of the walker’s arms and carefully stood up, placing his other hand on the bed as the crowd gathered behind the camera clapped and cheered.
TV star smiles.
“Stand up,” she said.
“It does feel weird,” Lavarok added. “It feels really weird.”
“How does it feel on your foot?” one of the paramedics asked LaFrock.
“It feels very unstable,” she replied.
“It’s also kind of like you’re wearing ski boots,” one of Lovelock’s family members said.
“Yes, yes,” she agreed.
“Can you spread your feet a little bit?” the doctor to her right asked.
“Oh my gosh, ski boots are really stiff,” LaFrock laughed nervously. Then she dragged her knees and looked up with a smile.
“So, can you put all your weight on the right side and a little bit on the left?” the paramedic said.
LaFrock turned to the doctor on her left and said, “I’m just holding your hand just in case.”
A family member of LaFrock told LaFlock they are now on a FaceTime call with her father, John.

“It feels really weird.”
“So, we’re going to start getting used to being upright because you haven’t been upright in a while,” the staff member told her.
“Yeah, I felt like I was going to fall backwards,” LaFrock said.
“You can lean on the walker. That’s what it’s for,” the doctor told her.
The “Killing Game” actress looked into the camera and asked, “Is dad on FaceTime?”
“Hi, Daddy,” she said, smiling, and her father replied, “Hi, honey.”
“Look, I’m standing with my walker,” she told him. “It’s all on my own.”
LaFlock took a step forward with his left foot and took a few more steps.
“Oh my God! The feet are moving. The feet are moving!” a family member exclaims as the video ends.
According to a GoFundMe page her family set up in May, LaFrock was put on life support after falling from a balcony weeks after an undisclosed “medical emergency.” This page is no longer accepting contributions.
