The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said a shooting occurred near West Jefferson High School around noon Thursday. The victim was taken to hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
“We are working hard to find the shooter in this case,” Sheriff’s spokesman Jason Rivard told reporters at the scene. As of about 3 p.m., the shooter had not been identified, and it was unclear whether the shooter was also a student.
