Hisense has launched CanvasTV, a matte TV designed to display art and photos, allowing it to blend in with the rest of your decor when not in use. If it sounds similar to Samsung’s The Frame, that’s because it is—but the difference is that CanvasTV starts at a few hundred dollars cheaper.
CanvasTV is available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, with the smaller version priced at $999 and the larger version priced at $1,300. Technology Network. In comparison, the 55-inch The Frame sells for $1,499 and the 65-inch The Frame sells for $1,999. Like The Frame, Hisense CanvasTV also offers a 4K QLED anti-glare display. It also comes with a 144Hz refresh rate, RGB sensor for ambient light adaptation, and multi-channel 2.0.2 surround sound.
CanvasTV comes pre-installed with art “covering abstract, modern and Renaissance styles.” You can also click the Art Mode button on the remote to switch between displaying artwork and personal photos. The TV has a motion sensor that detects people in the room and turns off the TV when no one is around.
While LG offers a “gallery mode” on some TVs to display art (as well as the ability to display NFTs), and many other smart TV manufacturers have launched various gallery apps, if you must have Hisense’s CanvasTV is America’s cheapest option with designs that aim to take advantage of art hiding in plain sight—at least for now.
In addition to the wall mount, Hisense has equipped the CanvasTV with a teak frame, but you can swap it out for interchangeable white or walnut frames sold separately. CanvasTV will be available this summer.
