A Phoenix father died Monday in a freak accident after he was trapped under a car.
Instead of helping the trapped man, bystanders robbed him.
Jeronimo Garcia Guerra was driving his wife to work on Monday when their car broke down. After being picked up, Guerra drove her daughter’s car back to the disabled vehicle and attempted to make some repairs, but the jack supporting the vehicle collapsed.
Guerra was pinned under the car for several hours before police arrived. While Guerra was trapped, witnesses robbed him.
The victim’s daughter, Monica Garcia, told AZ Family, “After all this, they searched my dad’s pockets and my mom’s car, and then they saw them driving off in my car. “
“It’s hard because I would never do this to someone else. I can care less about my car, but at least they can stay with him until help comes,” Monica Garcia told the media. “At least I’ll know he’s not alone all day until someone decides to say oh my gosh, he’s not moving.”
Police have not yet made any arrests.
AZ Family Report:
A Phoenix family is mourning the death of their father, who was killed in a freak accident on Monday when his car rolled over on top of him, pinning him underneath.
Instead of helping, some of the people who witnessed what happened stole his belongings and ran away, police said.
Jeronimo Garcia Guerra was driving his wife to work Monday morning when her car broke down in a parking lot near 23rd Avenue and Thomas Road.
After picking them up, he drove his daughter’s car back to fix the broken car.
“He brought a certain sense of comfort,” said Jerry Garcia Jr., who now only remembers his father.
Police believe a jack supporting the car collapsed, causing the car to fall on top of him.
