Step 1: How to manually turn off your iPhone 14 (and all iPhones with Face ID)
To turn off iPhone 14, simply press and hold the side button and either volume button on the other side until the Power Off slider appears on the screen. Slide the slider to turn off the phone. A similar issue users encountered with the iPhone 14 Pro was that the side button failed to automatically put the phone into sleep mode.
The iPhone 14 Pro is the first Apple device to feature an always-on display. When the always-on display is on, it displays a low-power version of the locked home screen, so users can quickly browse the clock, date, or notifications without unlocking the phone. This feature only works on the iPhone 14 Pro (and iPhone 15 Pro), so non-pro users shouldn’t run into this issue.
