This HP OmniBook X laptop will shock Apple. Why? Because it is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip.
“So what?” you may be thinking. “What is the most talked about about the Snapdragon X Elite chip?” Well, I’m glad you asked.
Qualcomm has been hinting at Snapdragon X Elite-powered laptops for some time that would put M3-based MacBooks in the dust. That’s a bold claim because, let’s be honest, Windows PCs have struggled to keep up with Apple’s laptops.
As a reviewer, I’ve seen some Windows laptops outperform comparable M-series processors, although rarely, but every laptop has struggled to beat the MacBook in terms of energy efficiency. this M3 MacBook ProFor example, it lasts for 16 hours on a single charge, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a Windows laptop that can do that.
The question is, does the HP OmniBook X equipped with Snapdragon X Elite chip live up to Qualcomm’s claims? Will it earn a spot on our website? Best laptop page?

HP OmniBook X design
From a design perspective, the OmniBook X is a bit lethargic. If I could personify this HP laptop, it would be the boring, safe, cookie-cutter companion you bring home to your parents. A buttoned-up suit and zero tattoos won’t offend anyone, but it’s not exciting.

No, the OmniBook X isn’t beautiful, but that’s not what it was designed to be. HP wants this laptop to be one you take into the office, and one that blends in perfectly with a sterile, clinical atmosphere.
The only eye-catching feature of the OmniBook X is the light blue power button in the upper right corner of the keyboard, flanked by a row of light gray keys. Woohoo, I guess?
The lid is equally bland, with a reflective HP logo in the center of the “Meteor Silver” chassis. The OmniBook is also available in “Ceramic White” color.
The OmniBook X is a 3-pound laptop, lighter than a 3.4-pound laptop 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro (HP laptop competitor) I reviewed. It’s also thinner than the M3 MacBook Pro, measuring 0.56 inches tall, beating out Apple’s laptop at 0.61 inches tall.
HP OmniBook X Monitor
HP Omnibook X features a 14-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2240 x 1400 pixels. No, this 60Hz IPS panel isn’t a jaw-dropping, drool-worthy visual stunner, but it’s enough to satisfy my inner display snob.

I launched YouTube and played Venom 3: The Last Dance trailer. What caught my eye the most was the satisfying richness of color. In one scene, an actress wears a shimmering bright red dress so scarlet that she looks like she’s jumping off the screen. The fiery explosion reveals the effect of the display producing various shades of orange, red and gray.
However, one drawback to consider with the HP OmniBook X is its 300-nit display. In other words, if you take it outside, especially on a sunny day, the screen will be difficult to read. If you work at your desk near a bright window, you might want to reconsider the OmniBook X.
The bezels surrounding the HP OmniBook X are so It’s over. The top bezel and chin could be thinner, but maybe I’m being too picky.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the HP OmniBook’s touchscreen functionality works seamlessly. I personally wouldn’t use it because I don’t like the idea of smearing the screen, but if you want to scroll through long articles with wide swipes to read faster, this is the laptop for you.
HP OmniBook X ports
The OmniBook X isn’t port-rich, but at least it has a decent balance between traditional and modern I/O options.

I have to give HP credit for providing a USB Type-A port, an I/O option that’s on the verge of disappearing. Many laptop manufacturers claim they abandoned USB Type-A ports because they were too thick, hampering their thin-and-light goals. But thanks to jaw technology (the same mechanism HP uses on the ultra-thin OmniBook X), users can “stretch” the port to accommodate older cables.
look? We can also have our cake and eat it too. Traditional ports and thin and light laptops can indeed coexist.
HP OmniBook X Audio
Audio is a worry for the OmniBook X.
I opened “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter on Spotify. (Why is this song so addictive?) Pros? The sound from the two-way speakers is impressive. I turned the volume up to maximum and I was pretty sure my next door neighbor could hear me having a little jam session.
However, the sound quality is mediocre. Bass is weak and pop music sounds too thin on the speakers. But if you’re not a music producer or audiophile, it really doesn’t matter much.
HP OmniBook X Keyboard and Trackpad
Whenever someone asks me, “If I want the best keyboard, which laptop should I buy?”, I tell them anything from HP is the answer – and the OmniBook X is no exception.

I can’t stop typing on the OmniBook X; it’s an addiction. From the click of the keys to the springiness of the switches, this keyboard is tactile and responsive.
However, the trackpad hasn’t won me over just yet. It’s a little too hard for my taste – I prefer a smoother feel. On the plus side, it’s very spacious.
The keyboard has a double-layer white backlight that can be turned on via the F5 key. Finally, I like the large white letters and symbols on the dark gray keycaps, which contrast nicely with the light gray chassis. You won’t be squinting with this laptop – that’s for sure.
HP OmniBook X Benchmarks and Performance
I can not wait Running Geekbench 6 (a benchmark that tests processor performance) on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip inside the HP OmniBook X.
In other words, Qualcomm is targeting the most aware, an entry-level Apple laptop. Most importantly, HP claims that the OmniBook X is a competitor to the M3 MacBook Pro, not the M3 MacBook Air.
Check out each laptop’s multi-core score to see if HP and Qualcomm’s claims are true:
Facts have proved that OmniBook X did beat the M3 MacBook, with a performance increase of about 11%.
It is also worth pointing out that Snapdragon X Elite has an NPU, which helps with artificial intelligence processing. (And facilitate some of the artificial intelligence tasks mentioned in the next section.)
HP OmniBook X Copilot+ PC Experience and Artificial Intelligence
The HP OmniBook X is more than just an ordinary PC. This is a Copilot+ PC. (Insert sparkling emoji.) Like most modern Windows 11 laptops, you launch Copilot using dedicated keyboard keys.
However, Copilot+ PC kicks it up a notch with some compelling AI features. For example, I had a lot of fun using the new and improved Paint. It now has a “co-creator” feature that helps me draw masterpieces even though my doodles are rudimentary and rough around the edges.
The Photos app has a new image creator feature that lets me create my own AI photos based on any crazy prompt that comes to mind. When I type “a rabbit is reading” this is what it comes up with.

honestly? Copilot+ PC makes Windows fun again – and that’s what I’m here for.
On a more serious note, Microsoft should Introducing the controversial recall feature for the first time— black mirror-esque perks are like pressing “CTRL + H” throughout your digital life. but it has Copilot+ PC Latency.
Once the Redmond-based tech giant resolves the security issues, Recall is expected to return, but only in preview mode for Windows Insiders.
Separate from Copilot is a pre-installed application from HP called “HP AI Companion.” It’s based on GPT-3.5; you can ask it countless questions just like any other AI chatbot. However, this is a bit redundant in a situation where the co-pilot is already within reach More powerful GPT-4 Turbo.
HP OmniBook X battery life
Wow. When I ran a 1080p video execution test on the HP OmniBook X, it refused to freeze. finally struck with incredible speed. 16 hours and 47 minutes.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 9 has the longest battery runtime of any Windows laptop so far: 14 hours and 21 minutes.
Now, the HP OmniBook X has broken that record. We also tested the M3 MacBook’s battery runtime, but the Pro model was benchmarked using PCMark 10, so the comparison is incompatible. But for what it’s worth, it lasted 16 hours and 23 minutes TOLL.
The M3 MacBook Air, on the other hand, was tested using the same video benchmark; it only lasted 10 hours and 36 minutes TOLL.
HP OmniBook X Webcam

When it comes to shooters, there’s not much to write home about. You don’t get that crisp clarity, but I’m happy with it. All this visual noise masks my shortcomings.
Plus, with the AI-enhanced camera app, you can enjoy some cool features through Windows Studio Effects, including automatic framing, background blur, and eye contact so you look like you’re staring at the screen the whole time.
Is the HP OmniBook X worth it?
The HP OmniBook X was my first experience with a Snapdragon X Elite-based Copilot+ PC machine, and I was deeply impressed. Qualcomm is not wrong. Its processor really beats the M3 MacBook. Additionally, it can last for over 16 hours on a single charge, an unheard-of feat for a Windows laptop these days.
Finally, the Copilot+ PC feature makes Windows fun again. Do you remember when Windows was all the rage? As a kid, when I lost interest in browsing the web, I would turn to preinstalled games like Solitaire, Minesweeper, or 3D Pinball. With new artificial intelligence features, you can use your laptop without using Google Chrome or whatever browser you use. All you have to do is launch a drawing or photo app. It will keep you entertained for hours.
The HP OmniBook X is the best Windows laptop I’ve tested this year. It’s fun, fast, and intense.
