New York Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman appeared on Fox News tonight to claim that Trump has not agreed to any debates and is afraid to debate Kamala Harris. Everything he said was a complete lie.
Fox News anchor Bret Baier immediately corrected him, saying Trump had agreed to three different debates with Harris, while the Harris campaign had not yet agreed to two additional dates.
Goldman Sachs later continued to insist that what he said was correct to some extent. It’s absolutely stunning to watch.
Transcript from Real Clear Politics:
represent. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.): She will answer a lot of questions, and I believe she will do so on an unfriendly network, unlike her opponent, Donald Trump.
BRETT BAER (FOX NEWS): Well, I think Senator Vance was on three Sunday shows this weekend. I’m sure the former president also debated on CNN. As for the debate, do you think there will only be one? Do you think she would agree with the other debates? Did you hear anything on the campaign trail?
Goldman Sachs: Look, if Donald Trump wasn’t too timid to show up on September 10th, which he agreed to do, I’m sure Vice President Harris would be happy to have more debates after that. If I were Donald Trump, I would understand why he doesn’t want to have a debate.
BAIER: He promised three—
GOLDMAN Sachs: –Kamala Harris is a prosecutor.
BAIER: He promised September 4th, September 10th, September 17th. He agrees with a lot of people, so he’s clearly not afraid of debate.
GOLDMAN: No, no, no. So, no, no, no. He agreed to ABC airing it on September 10.
BAYER: Biden, he was kicked out.
Goldman: What’s the difference? Why doesn’t he debate who the candidates are on September 10th, as he agreed?
Bayer: Okay.
Goldman Sachs: What’s the difference between candidate Biden and candidate Harris?
Bayer: No, no, it’s okay. He said he would do it. I’m just saying he agrees with the other debates as well. You said he hasn’t promised anyone else yet. He has. The Kamala Harris campaign has yet to reach an agreement on the other side.
