Music rights and entertainment company Influence Media has launched a new A-list brand called SLANG.
The new brand will be led by firm partner and founding advisor Rene McLean.
The list of “SLANG” already includes four-time Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-winning star Will Smith, who Impact Media calls “one of the few black artists nominated for all four major entertainment awards in the United States.”
Smith will be joined by acclaimed multi-platinum producer Camper, known for his work with artists such as Jay-Z, Drake, Mary J Blige, Nicki Minaj, HER and more.
SLANG’s roster also includes Grammy-winning producer 30 Roc, who Influence Media notes is the “mastermind” behind Roddy Rich’s RIAA-certified Diamond hit BoxQuad Platinum Certified rake it up” by Yo Gotti ft. multi-platinum single from Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Kanye West, Cardi B and other rap heavyweights.
SLANG has also collaborated with rising artist rapper/singer Leaf, Flatbush rap duo The Underachievers, Atlanta rapper Truththebull, emerging artist, songwriter and producer Isaia Huron, underground Atlanta rapper RY XP and more.
Influence Media Partners was founded in 2019 and is led by Lylette Pizarro, Lynn Hazan, Rene McLean and Jon Jashni.
In early 2022, with the support of BlackRock Alternative Investors and Warner Music Group, a US$750 million fund was announced to invest in so-called “high-value works from diverse artists.”
Influence Media has invested in the music catalogs of multiple Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated artists to date.
These deals include collaborations with artists such as Enrique Iglesias, country superstar Blake Shelton, production team The Stereotypes, singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez, singer-songwriter Julia Michaels, Tyler Johnson, Logic and more.
Most recently, McLean led catalog acquisition transactions for Future, Tyler Johnson, Tainy and others at Influence Media Partners.
Before joining Influence, he worked with artists such as Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Eminem, Pharrell Williams, and Timbaland. Under McLean’s guidance, managing clients Kelis, LMFAO and Cam’ron delivered “the most commercially outstanding and high-performing projects of their careers,” according to Influence.
He also founded RPM GRP to work with “top talent” and established partnerships with companies such as Pepsi-Cola, LVMH, Apple Music, and founded the Mixshow Power Summit conference, which ran for 10 years.
“I’m proud to lead SLANG in partnering with quality artists and investing in their growth, no matter what genre they are in or where they are in their respective careers.”
