Complaints began appearing on social media platforms such as Reddit and X early on Friday afternoon and continued into late Saturday night.
Loud music and vibrating bass can be heard and felt throughout Los Angeles’ West Side, from Culver City to Manhattan Beach.
“Is there anything anyone can do? Or do we all… have until 11 tonight, 10 tomorrow?” one user asked on Reddit.
“Where did it come from? How annoying!! Posted another one.
The refreshing chaos stems from the Hard Summer music festival, held in Hollywood Park near SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The festival, which features techno, house and dubstep music, is expected to attract around 70,000 attendees each day.
The El Segundo Police Department said it received several noise complaints Saturday.
“We are aware of a loud roar that is affecting the city,” the department said. Posted on X. “It originated at a music festival near SoFi Stadium. … No need to call 911 to report it.
As of noon Sunday, the department had not received any complaints, said Sgt. Russel Patton, but the festival was scheduled to start again at 2 p.m.
The Inglewood Police Department did not respond to a request for comment.
Hard Summer was formed in 2007 and this year’s lineup includes Nelly Furtado, Disclosure and Rezzmau5. Festival organizers have not publicly acknowledged the noise complaints and did not respond to requests for comment.
“This was the loudest party ever,” one resident wrote on X. “I’ve never heard of anything like it.”
Even miles from Hollywood Park, Angelenos say they can hear music at high volumes and feel bass vibrations. One reported feeling a tremor at his home four miles away.
“I thought someone was having a party on my apartment building,” one Reddit user wrote.
Police agencies in surrounding areas have not said they will take any action to stop the festival or control noise levels. The festival ends at 10pm on Sunday.
