Apple will let you record and transcribe phone calls in iOS 18.
Images shared by Apple show a new recording option on the Phone app that displays sound waves and the time you’re recording. It then transcribes your call in the Notes app, where you can use the new Apple Intelligence AI system to generate a summary. You can also record and transcribe messages in the Notes app.
As noted in a footer on the Apple iOS 18 preview page, audio transcription is only available in English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Portuguese. The introduction of recording into the Phone app should at least make it easier for journalists and other users to record and transcribe their calls while keeping the recipients informed.
Apple Intelligence took the main stage during WWDC, but there are plenty of other neat features coming to iOS 18, including a customizable homepage, changes to Control Center, improvements to Tapback responsiveness, and more.
