During a House Republican hearing with Dr. Fauci on the COVID-19 pandemic, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) called on House Republicans to love and idolize convicted felons.

Raskin told Fauci: “Dr. Dr. Fauci, I want to join my colleagues in Florida in apologizing to you for the way some of our colleagues in the United States House of Representatives seem to want to drag your name into the mud for the way they’ve treated you, Dr. Fauci, treat like a convicted felon. In fact, you might want them to treat you like a convicted felon. They treat convicted felons with love and admiration, some of which are blind adorations. Convicted Felon. Is there anything else you would like to say to the American people about your service to the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Judging by the way Republicans have behaved since Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felonies, Rep. Raskin is right. Republicans have rallied behind Trump and attacked the justice system. No one is calling for Trump to step down and allow someone else who is not a convicted felon to become the party’s presidential nominee.
Republicans view Dr. Fauci, who guided the country through a deadly pandemic, as a villain and the convicted felon who disobeyed Fauci and killed Americans as a hero.
Raskin’s comments highlighted the broken moral compass of the Republican Party.
