Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance tried to sound genuinely concerned about Trump’s safety, but he came off as completely disingenuous.

Vance said:
Of course, we saw a very stark definition of it on Saturday, as I’m sure all of you had a similar reaction to me. You see your friends start telling you, oh my gosh, they just shot the president, and then when I first saw the footage, I was worried, you know, you saw him go down, I don’t Know what happened then. I’m so scared that we just lost a great president, but this is an incredibly terrible thing for our country. In that moment, I was very, very worried about him and very worried about our country.
Who were “them” who shot Trump? The people who shot Trump were Republicans, so the correct pronoun is us. A Republican takes a shot at Trump.
In the history of modern American campaigns, you’d be hard-pressed to find a running mate who sounded more convincing than J.D. Vance when he pretended to care about what might happen to Donald Trump. Insincerity doesn’t mask Vance’s voice.
Looking at J.D. Vance, it’s clear why Democrats are happy Trump chose him. Vance has a sense of inauthenticity about him, which is why he could easily become a complete disaster if the Trump campaign carries out its plan to deploy him to Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Silicon Valley hedge fund guy Vance will probably be eaten alive because he’s not a good fit for a country that likes real people, and JD Vance is not.
