House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) embarrassed himself by trying to have Alvin Bragg testify before his committee on the weaponization of government.

This is what Jordan wrote to Prague:

Jordan asked Bragg to testify before his committee.
Jim Jordan had no supervisory authority over Alvin Bragg. There was nothing Jordan could do other than ask the Manhattan District Attorney to testify.
Rep. Jordan clearly learned nothing. In April 2023, Jordan held a committee hearing in Manhattan as part of an effort to intimidate and smear Bragg. The Manhattan District Attorney humiliated him.
Alvin Bragg will never testify. Jim Jordan had no oversight powers and no legal means to compel Bragg to testify. Jordan’s letter was an embarrassing stunt so the Ohio lawmaker could hold a sham hearing in June and claim Bragg wouldn’t testify.
Since Donald Trump has not yet been sentenced, Bragg would not be able to testify even if he wanted to, as the Trump case remains an ongoing legal issue.
Jordan attempted to abuse his power as chairman of the Judiciary Committee to help Trump appeal. One thing Jordan will never do is invite Donald Trump to testify under oath because Jordan is trying to interfere in a criminal case for political gain.
