President Biden delivered a speech from the Oval Office emphasizing putting country before self and solidifying the great legacy of his presidency.
Biden said:
We are a great country because we are good people. When you elected me to this position, I promised to always be honest with you. To tell you the truth. The truth is, this country’s sacred cause is greater than any of us. Those of us who cherish this cause cherish it very much. We must come together to protect it. You know, it’s become clear to me in recent weeks that I need to unite my party on this critical effort. I believe my record as president, my leadership in the world, and my vision for America’s future deserve re-election. But nothing can stand in the way of saving our democracy. This includes personal ambition. So I decided the best way forward was to pass the torch to a new generation. This is the best way to unite our country. I know that there is a time and place where it is possible to accumulate years of experience in public life. There are also new sounds, a time and a place for new sounds. Yes, young voice. That time and place is now.

In just a few short months, the American people will choose the path for America’s future. I made my choice. I expressed my opinion. I want to thank our great Vice President Kamala Harris. She has a lot of experience. She is strong. She has the ability. She has been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country. The choice now is up to you, the American people.

Whether we retain our republic is now in your hands. My fellow Americans, it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve this country for more than 50 years. Nowhere else on earth could a kid from Scranton, Pennsylvania, who came from humble beginnings and stuttered, one day sit behind a resolute desk in the Oval Office as President of the United States, and here I was. That’s what’s special about America. We are a nation of hope and possibility. Dreamers and doers. Average Americans do extraordinary things. I give my heart and soul to our country. Like many others. I have been blessed a million times and come back with love and support. i hope you know how I’m grateful to all of you. The great thing about America is that kings and dictators don’t rule. People do. History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America is in your hands. You have to stay safe. Keep the faith and remember who we are. We are the United States of America.

President Biden is a good man with a good heart who always loves his country and puts it first. All these qualities were prominent in his speech. Biden knows that saving the country is more important than staying in the presidential race to prove the doubters wrong. The stakes for the country are too high, but even if they weren’t, Joe Biden might decide to resign because that’s who he is.
If Vice President Harris wins in November, Biden will have a lengthy victory lap/farewell parade. A common metric for measuring presidents is whether they leave the country in a better place than when they entered office.
Biden’s answer is a resounding yes, which is why he will be remembered as one of the greatest presidents in history.
