this New York Times Reporting on recent remarks by Justice Sonia Sotomayor from the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University.
Sometimes, after hearing the Supreme Court pronounce its verdict, Justice Sonia Sotomayor would go into her room, close the door, and cry.
“There were days when the case was announced and I came into my office, closed the door, and cried,” Justice Sotomayor told the crowd Friday as she was honored at Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute. There have been days like this and there may be more.” . .
“There are times when I feel very, very sad,” she said, without citing any specific cases. “Yes, there are times when even I feel hopeless. We all do. But you have to admit it, you have to accept it, you have to shed the tears, and then you have to dry them and stand up.”
When Justice Sotomayor said there are “probably more” court days to come, is that a hint at what the court will do this semester? Or is this just an indication of what she can expect in the coming years, given the court’s current makeup?
Earlier this semester, Judge Jackson may have hinted light runner and ruthless.
