White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was incoherent when a reporter asked her about a new report showing Hunter Biden represented Ukrainian energy company Burisma while Joe Biden was vice president. The holding company sought assistance from the State Council.
The New York Times first reported that Hunter Biden sought assistance from the U.S. ambassador.
Other outlets, including CNN and ABC News, also reported on heavily redacted State Department documents obtained by The New York Times through a Freedom of Information Act request.
Hunter Biden reportedly reached out to the U.S. ambassador to Italy in 2015 to request assistance for Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.
In 2015, Hunter Biden was paid $80,000 to serve on the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, even though he had no experience with natural gas or energy in Ukraine.
The White House ridiculously claims that Joe Biden was unaware that his son had contacted the U.S. ambassador to Italy on behalf of Burisma.
The New York Times reported that a Commerce Department official in Italy told Hunter Biden that the U.S. government should not “actively engage in propaganda with the Italian government” if Burisma did not go through the Commerce Department first.
Hunter Biden has still not been charged with acting as a foreign agent (a violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act).
From ABC News:
President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden tried to enlist the support of the U.S. ambassador to Italy in 2016 to arrange a business meeting on behalf of Burisma to reach a deal, according to his lawyer. Potential energy deal.
The New York Times reported that it had obtained records related to Hunter Biden’s request after a lengthy legal battle with the State Department. The newspaper said in a news article on Tuesday that it initially made a request for the records in June 2021 and later filed a lawsuit over the department’s failure to turn over the records.
The Times also reported that a State Department official said the timing of the release of these specific documents, just weeks after Joe Biden ended his presidential campaign, was purely coincidental.
The actual contents of Hunter Biden’s 2016 letter to Ambassador John Phillips are not included in the documents obtained by The Times. But according to Lowell, Hunter Biden contacted the embassy to see “if they could briefly introduce Burisma’s geothermal company to the president of Tuscany who was considering such a project.”
ABC’s Selina Wang asks Karine Jean-Pierre about the New York Times’ reporting on Hunter Biden.
“The New York Times reported that Hunter Biden sought help from the U.S. ambassador on behalf of the company while serving as a board member and vice president of Burisma. So what was Biden’s reaction? Selina Wang asked KJP .
Karine Jean-Pierre stutters back to “Hunter Biden is a private citizen” talking point.
“So, I just want to report what I said before, that the president has never – never done business with his son, and – uh – he doesn’t know that, and – uh – for any further matters, I would ask You refer to — uh — Hunter Biden’s representative — personal representative, I can’t say more, but again, I’ve said it before, the president is not doing business with his son, and this is the first time that I’ve ever done that. – The first time he – uh – he didn’t know that – uh – uh – uh, if there was anything further, you’d have to contact Biden – Hunter Biden,” KJP said.

Selina Wang pressed Karine Jean-Pierre: “And, you said on the podium that President Biden would not pardon his son. If Vice President Harris is elected, will he tell her not to pardon him either?”
“I mean, it’s a hypothetical, and I – look, President – I can speak for the President – uh – he said he’s not going to pardon his son, and I’ll just leave it there,” Karine Jean- Pierre.
