Another day, another intensifying recruiting war for 2024.
It was announced today that TJ Lewis Real Estate, an independent brokerage firm based in Austin, Texas, has joined Keller Williams. TJ Lewis has closed 81 sales so far this year, totaling $27.9 million, and has 31 agents, according to a statement from the franchisee. Topher Rogers, who represents TJ Lewis, said in a statement, “With the support of KW, we are excited to see where the combined path will take us.”
“Our team at TJ Lewis Real Estate is committed to creating an environment similar to what KW embodies,” Rogers added.
Last year, TJ Lewis completed 141 sales, generating sales of $39.5 million. As part of Keller Williams, TJ Lewis will be affiliated with the KW Austin Southwest Market Center.
The independent joins Keller Williams at a time of fierce competition for real estate talent. While agencies and franchises have long been competitive, the market slowdown of the past few years has shifted the narrative away from sheer headcount and toward star performers with proven track records.
Case in point: Just last week, brands including Coldwell Banker made a number of high-profile announcements about the agencies and teams they managed to attract.
All of these various recruiting wins also come against the backdrop of a changing industry, with a series of antitrust lawsuits over agency commissions raising questions about how industry professionals will be compensated in the future.
However, in the case of TJ Lewis, the company was optimistic about the future of its agents in a statement this week.
“Like KW, we want to develop confident agents, and we’re here to game plan and watch each agent find their success story,” Rogers said. “We are a place for new agents to start their careers and see continued growth, and a place for experienced agents to see their current market positioning scale to new heights.”
