Princess Anne is said to have lost her memory after suffering a concussion and minor injuries in an accident thought to be horse-related.
The 73-year-old’s memory loss is believed to be temporary, The Daily Telegraph reported. Fox News Digital has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
The Princess Royal’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence, also gave a brief update to well-wishers on Tuesday.

“She’s recovering well, thank you everyone,” Lawrence was quoted as saying by People magazine. “We are all extremely grateful for the expert care from the medical team and hospital support staff, as well as the emergency services personnel who did an outstanding job on scene.”
He added: “We have received so many messages of kindness from people near and far and we have been deeply touched. It means a lot.”
In footage shared to X by ITV’s Chris Ship, the 69-year-old told reporters, “She’s fine. Slowly but surely.”
On Monday, Buckingham Palace said the sister of King Charles III was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure and was expected to make a full recovery. She was injured while walking on the Gatcombe Park estate in southwest England on Sunday. The cause of Anne’s injuries is unclear, but doctors said her injuries were consistent with a blow to the horse’s head or leg.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The King has been following the news closely and joins the entire Royal Family in sending the Princess our sincerest love and best wishes for a speedy recovery.”
The accident is the latest health scare to hit the Windsor royal family in recent months, with the 75-year-old king and Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton both undergoing cancer treatment. This has strained the royal family’s ability to maintain full public appearances, with Queen Anne and Queen Camilla taking on more activities while Charles, 42, and Kate took time out to focus on their health.

Christopher Andersen, author of “The King,” said: “Because the royal family spends most of their lives on horseback, whether fox hunting, playing polo or participating in equestrian events, the royal family has a lot of knowledge about their brains. No stranger to concussions, sprains and broken bones “Princess Anne… probably suffered more injuries than any other member of the royal family, with the possible exception of King Charles. “
