“Pretty Reckless” star Taylor Momsen had a terrifying encounter with a flying bat while performing on stage with her band The Pretty Reckless in Seville, Spain, on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old singer-songwriter, whose rock band AC/DC is opening for AC/DC on the European leg of their Power Up tour, was performing her song “Witches Burn” at the Estadio La Cartuja when a bat stuck her At the bottom of the pitch.
Mawson later shared footage of the incident and her trip to the hospital, telling her followers she would need a rabies shot within the next two weeks.
“So… rock and roll moment… Wednesday in Seville, during ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a bat flew on me and stuck to my leg…” Merson posted on her Instagram the post’s caption read.
“I was performing and I didn’t know until the incredible crowd was screaming and pointing,” she continued.

“He was lovely but yes he bit me…so over the next two weeks I was given a rabies shot, thanks to all the staff at the hospital who gave me the rabies vaccine after seeing it on the local news that morning. I got #batgirl…more footage to come…it’s a book!

“You’re pointing at something, but I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she told the audience. The singer turned around and bent over when she spotted the bat stuck to the bottom of her black and white lace slip dress.
“Oh my God!” Mawson exclaimed. She returned to the microphone and told the crowd: “Now I have a flying bat on my leg.”
Mawson remained calm and continued to stand at the microphone while crew members came to help remove the bat.
“I must be a witch,” she joked. As a fan whistled, the former model turned around and smiled.
Mawson’s calm demeanor clearly impressed the audience, with fans shouting: “So professional!”
“Thank you!” Mawson told fans, who clapped and cheered.
“It’s okay,” she said after the crew removed the bat.
“The bats are good too,” she added. “He’s going to be my new friend.”
Mawson also posted video footage of her being treated at the hospital for her bite. Wearing a black mask and giving a thumbs up, she was found lying in a hospital bed.
The Missouri native shared a video of the bite on her leg, as well as a video of a nurse administering the vaccine.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, rabies is a serious disease that is almost always fatal if not treated immediately. Rabies infects the central nervous system, and symptoms include delirium, abnormal behavior, hallucinations, hydrophobia, and insomnia, ultimately leading to coma and death.
Treatment includes “one dose of human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) and a series of four to five rabies vaccines, which must be administered as soon as possible after exposure,” the CDC said.
Mawson began her career as a child actor and landed her breakthrough role as Cindy Lou in 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey.
