A CrossFit Games competitor died while competing in a swim meet.
Lazar Dukic disappeared underwater while competing in a race at Marine Creek Lake in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday morning.
At around 8 a.m. local time, emergency services received reports that “a participant fell into the water but did not appear at a certain point in time.”

About an hour after the first divers hit the water, dive teams and drones launched a search and the athlete’s body was found.

CrossFit CEO Don Faul said at a news conference that organizers were “deeply saddened” by the death and were working with authorities on the subsequent investigation.
He added: “We are doing everything we can to support the family and support our community at this tragic time.”
Mr. Faul also confirmed that CrossFit does have safety personnel present during the swim.

The medical examiner’s office has not yet listed a cause of Dukic’s death.
Dukic’s profile on the CrossFit website says he is the third-ranked CrossFit athlete in Serbia and the 88th-ranked CrossFit athlete in the world.
CrossFit is a branded fitness regime involving high-intensity competition in a variety of sports. Sky News has contacted CrossFit for comment.
