Andrew Weissmann said on MSNBC that Robert Costello fired the fatal shot, but that it was directed at Trump, not the prosecutors.

Weisman on Deadline: White House says:
Robert Costello. If you are the prosecutor, you have to go. Thank you, he was, yes, I think he did deliver the coup de grace, but not in the way that Fox News wanted. This is devastating evidence. This is an exhibition of exactly what Michael Cohen says is happening. It’s so mob. This is exactly what happens in mob cases, you send lawyers to find out what happened. Do you collaborate? We do represent the boss. We’re working on it, that’s what we’re really doing. That’s what the jury could conclude.
Apparently, witnesses say this is not true. The problem for him is you’re reading in black and white and Michael Collins said I don’t trust him. I think essentially he was, everything was passed on to the president and it was all in black and white, and that’s why he didn’t hire him.

Costello is a disaster for Trump. Costello was the lawyer who tried to manipulate Cohen for Trump. Costello had to sit there and be cross-examined and faced with evidence that he was trying to silence Cohen and side with Trump.
It’s unclear why Costello was put on the witness stand other than Fox News told Trump to do so. Fox News promised a fatal shot, and the fatal shot was delivered, but it was directed at the defendant and could convict Trump.
