Donald Trump appears before a raucous crowd of liberal delegates and his own supporters at the Libertarian Party’s national convention in Washington, D.C.
Starchild, a longtime liberal activist, was tackled to the ground by security guards after raising an anti-Trump banner. Trump drew the loudest boos when he proposed himself as the Libertarian Party’s nominee, and the loudest cheers when he promised to commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the black market website Silk Road.
Freeing Ulbricht, something Trump failed to do when he had the chance to be president, was one of a list of 10 demands liberals submitted to Trump ahead of the speech.
After the speeches, the three Libertarian presidential candidates responded, but most of the crowd and media had dispersed by then.
reason captured the crowd’s reactions and asked Liberal representatives and Trump supporters in attendance what they thought of the event.
“This is the weirdest room I’ve ever been in,” one rep told reason.
