LinkedIn is testing customized AI career coaches to answer questions like “How do I negotiate my salary?”

Need help finding a job or career advice? LinkedIn can connect you with famous experts—and artificial intelligence versions of them.

On Thursday, the social media platform for professionals launched Expert AI, a coaching tool that lets users chat with customized chatbots based on various career experts and “LinkedIn influencers.” The tool is being rolled out on a pilot basis with coaches Alicia Reece, Anil Gupta, Dr Gemma Leigh Roberts and Lisa Gates, who can provide guidance on topics such as relationship management, global business strategy, wellbeing and career development.

To build the tool, instructors worked with LinkedIn to provide content to train the chatbot, such as LinkedIn Learning courses, LinkedIn posts, blogs, newsletters, and tutorials. LinkedIn has also introduced a royalty model to pay instructors for their work. “We work closely with each instructor to ensure the AI ​​responses fit their teaching style and match their expertise to ensure a high-quality experience,” Hari Srinivasan, vice president of product, said in a statement.

For the pilot, users can ask instructors questions like “How do I negotiate my salary?” or “How do I build a growth mindset?” The tool will provide tailored advice, making this mindset very growth-centric.

LinkedIn has recently launched a variety of tools and features to keep users engaged on the platform and provide motivation to hustle and grind. These include Wordle-style games and short videos for its community of influencers. The platform has also been working to develop AI-powered recruiting and career development tools, such as using generative AI to find candidates, automated messaging, summary content, and general AI coaching tools.

This coaching tool is available to LinkedIn Premium users and those with access to LinkedIn Recruiter and the Learning Center. Expert AI is in pilot mode, but it’s unclear when it will be launched publicly. Regardless, now is a great time to become the #growthmindset guru you’ve always wanted to be.
