The best laptop deals are back for a limited time as Walmart is selling laptops M1 MacBook Air Only $649 ($250 off). Walmart currently requires a Walmart Plus subscription to get the discounted price, but everyone else can purchase it from the retailer’s website today at 5 PM ET/2 PM PT.
We haven’t seen prices drop this low since March, shortly after the new M3 Air debuted. Since then, Walmart has been almost the exclusive seller of the M1 MacBook Air, usually offering the 13-inch laptop starting in 2020 for around $700. Despite being nearly four years old and only available in a base configuration with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, the aging MacBook is still a great machine for everyday productivity and some very light creative work. Its newer sibling surpasses it with a MagSafe charger, newer M chip, and better performance, but it’s hard to beat the M1 Air and its excellent battery life/standby time at just $650.
Despite its age, the M1 MacBook Air will still run macOS 15 Sequoia and come with new Apple Intelligence AI features. It’s hard to say how the first-generation M processors will handle AI tasks, especially since no one outside of Apple has demonstrated these capabilities on a Mac or even an iPhone. Regardless, the M1 Air has been a top choice in our laptop buying guides for years, only to be dethroned by its own direct successor. If you can get it at such a low price, it seems worth it.
