Manhattan prosecutors asked Judge Murchin to uphold Trump’s gag order because he has made threatening and inflammatory comments that have led to threats against others.
The Associated Press reported:
In court papers filed Friday, prosecutors with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office argued that a partial gag order was still necessary given Trump’s “unique history of inflammatory and threatening public statements” and the efforts of his supporters. of “locating the juror and threatening him with violence.”
“Since the verdict in this case, the defendant has not spared jurors from his shocking remarks that he has ‘every right’ as president to seek retribution against participants in this trial for his conviction,” the document states. “Sometimes revenge is justified,” he said.
Lisa Rubin of NBC News tweeted:
Please note that the District Attorney does not want the gag order to remain in place in its entirety. They agree with Trump that trial witnesses are no longer needed. 3/ pic.twitter.com/HYw2rVVAv2

Trump’s rhetoric is dangerous. Trump issued a gag order, prompting bomb threats against two people related to the case. Prosecutors did agree with Trump’s lawyers that restrictions on discussing witnesses could be lifted, but they made clear in the filing that the rest of the order needed to remain in place for public safety reasons.
Donald Trump’s comments put the lives of people associated with this case at risk, which is why the gag order should not be lifted.
