Marvel star Jeremy Renner has joined the cast of the third “Knives Out” film in his first role since 2023’s snowplow accident.
Renner joins the star-studded cast of murder mystery sequel Waking the Dead, which also includes Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington and Josh O’Connor. According to “Hollywood Reporter”.
Daniel Craig will return as Benoit Blanc, a detective with a drawl unique to the American South and a knack for solving murders.
Last week, Oscar-nominated director and screenwriter Rian Johnson Posted about the new movie on Instagram: “We’re about to go into production and I’m kind of excited.”
Renner was in critical condition after being accidentally run over by his own snowplow on New Year’s Day 2023 and has been recovering ever since.
He broke 38 bones and had his ribcage rebuilt with metal, metal plates placed in his face to support his eye sockets and titanium rods inserted into one of his legs. The Hollywood Reporter says.
The actor was trying to rescue his nephew who was trapped in a snowmobile when the accident happened. Renner was able to pull the car out, but when he got out, the plow slipped and crushed him.
He said in January that knowing he had “a lot to fight for” helped him get through it.
The Oscar-nominated actor, best known for playing Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel series as well as roles in other films such as The Hurt Locker and Arrival, also recently spoke about his career.

Feeling “very energetic”
Renner will also appear in the third season of Paramount+ drama The Mayor of Kingston, which will be released in June.
Talking about the show earlier this weekhe said the film was difficult to make and thanked the cast and crew for allowing him to “lean on them both physically and emotionally.”
He added that he “struggled at first” but later became “stronger” and felt “pretty energetic” instead of feeling exhausted by the end of filming.
Renner also told Kelly Clarkson’s US TV chat show that one of the worst aspects of his accident was “I even forgot about my daughter. That’s how chaotic I was”.
