As far as we know, those currently not present include former first lady Melania Trump. We haven’t seen her on the campaign trail with Donald Trump. He announced in November 2022 that the first time we saw her at a quasi-campaign stop was in March, when the two of them headed to a polling place in Florida to cast their votes. She was asked at the time if she would appear in the upcoming campaign. She said, quote, stay tuned.
She did not – and did not – attend any civil or criminal trials in New York. She did not attend the post-speech event after he filed four criminal indictments. No campaigning so far. By contrast, if current first lady Jill Biden doesn’t come tonight, she will take the stage with her husband, Joe Biden, at the end of the debate.
Melania Trump has made it clear that Donald Trump does not have enough money to pay for her campaign. She didn’t want to be First Lady. She didn’t want to live in Washington, D.C., and didn’t appear at the debate.
If Melania Trump can’t be bothered to support her husband, why should anyone else?
