Netflix isn’t updating its Meta Quest app, but Meta is doing the next best thing: adding web browser support. This means you can stream Netflix in high quality through the Quest’s browser app, which lets you switch between a flat 2D screen or a curved view, just like you’re in a theater.
There’s no real good way to watch Netflix shows on the Quest yet. Netflix launched an app for Quest in 2019, but the app limits video resolution to a paltry 480p and hasn’t received any updates recently. Until now, Quest’s browser app has blocked users from watching Netflix.
To solve this problem, some users tried sideloading Netflix’s Android app, while others chose to access Netflix through a browser in Quest virtual desktop mode. But now that the browser app will support Netflix “in the coming days,” no workaround is needed. The Apple Vision Pro also doesn’t have a dedicated Netflix app, forcing users to watch the service through Safari.
Meta also introduced support for background audio, so you can continue listening to music even if you minimize the 2D application you’re playing.
