Michigan voters are abandoning Trump since Kamala Harris entered the race

Republicans and independents in Michigan who once supported or leaned toward Trump are now looking at Kamala Harris.

Tuchman: You’re a Republican.

Michigan Voter Laura Chidsey: Yes.

Tuchman: Did you vote for Donald Trump in 2020?

Chidsey: Yes.

Tuchman: 2016 too?

Chidsey: Yes.

Tuchman: Are you going to vote for Donald Trump this year?

Chidsey: Well, I did. Now, it’s my turn.

Tuchman: With Kamala Harris?

Chidsey: Yes.

Tuchman: So you’re not sure?

Chidsey: Not sure. So I have to — I have to study a little more.

Tuchman: But you like Kamala Harris?

Chidsey: Yes, I do.

Tuchman: Before Kamala Harris entered the race, were you undecided, or did you know who you were going to vote for, for president?

John Herbert, Michigan voter: Before she joined, I was definitely leaning toward Trump.

TUCHMAN: Now that she’s in, how do you feel?

Herbert: I’m kind of rambling.

Tuchman: You’re an independent. But after the debate, you’re thinking about voting for Donald Trump.

Michigan Voter Mark Crook: Correct. Yes. It’s just – just the collapse of it, it’s a disaster for sure.

Tuchman: Now that Kamala Harris is in the race, are you still leaning toward voting for Donald Trump?

KRUK: No.

The CNN article also found that some people are loyal supporters of Trump and some are supporters of the Democratic nominee, no matter who it is, but a common theme begins to emerge.

People are really tired of Donald Trump.

They’re tired of the scandals, the drama, the lies, the corruption, but mostly, they’re just tired of seeing Donald Trump. That guy never left. He’s the Republican nominee for the third time in a row and people really seem to want something different.

Kamala Harris provides them with a younger, fresher voice that brings smiles and energy to the campaign and resonates with voters. In a state like Michigan, where a few thousand votes can determine victory or defeat, the betrayal of Trump by these voters is a big deal and could have huge ramifications in November.
