Mike Johnson appoints 1/6 conspiracy theorists to Trump assassination attempt task force

House Speaker Mike Johnson has selected 1/6 conspiracy theorist and misinformer Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) to join the House Trump Assassination Attempt Task Force.

The task force will be led by Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), whose district includes Butler, Pa., and, in addition to Higgins, will include Reps. Mark Green (R-TN) and David Joyce (R-TN). -OH) Laurel Lee (R-FL), Michael Walz (R-FL) and Pat Fallon (R-TX).

The Democratic ranking member will be Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO). Other Democrats on the task force include Reps. Lou Correa (D-CA), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), Chrissy Hoolahan (D-PA), Glenn Ivey (D-PA) D-MD) and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL).

The task force must quickly complete its investigation before the end of this Congress, but the selection of Mike Johnson raises some red flags that the task force will be deeply partisan.
