A gunman opened fire in a Minnesota community Thursday afternoon, killing at least two people and injuring two police officers.
The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that law enforcement was responding to an active situation in a residential neighborhood south of the city’s downtown.
Sources confirmed to Fox 9 that one of the officers who was shot was in critical condition following the shooting.

In a statement from X, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz thanked first responders for keeping the community safe.

“The State Patrol is on scene in South Minneapolis assisting local law enforcement,” Walz said. “The State of Minnesota stands ready to provide any necessary resources. Praying for all first responders on the scene working to keep our community safe.”
