Motorola posted a short video on social media on Monday promoting a new version of its Razr flip phone in a variety of colors with the slogan “FLIP THE SCRIPT 06.25.24.” The 2024 Razr and Razr Plus (also known as the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra) are expected to debut in China on that date. The new phone is expected to introduce some artificial intelligence features and have a larger screen.
The 2023 model was launched last June, but only the Razr Plus was available that month. The base Razr won’t be available until October. Reviews have been mixed, with CNET calling the base Razr the best foldable phone $700 can buy. If prices remain the same, the Razr will cost around $700 and the Razr Plus will cost $1,000.
The Smartprix website reports that following the launch on June 25, a follow-up global event will be held to make the phone available in more countries outside of China. Tom’s Guide says this could take place before the Galaxy Unpacked Summer Olympics on July 10.
Smartprix reports on rumors and leaks suggesting that the 2024 Razr will feature a 120Hz refresh rate pOLED screen and a 3.63-inch overlay screen. The Ultra should have a larger 4-inch overlay screen with a refresh rate of 165hz. Both phones are expected to feature a 50MP main lens, but the Ultra will have a 2x telephoto lens on the rear, while the Razr will have a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The Razr will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300x 5G processor, while the Ultra will be powered by the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s processor.
