MSNBC host Joy Reid can’t contain her excitement that several “DEI officials” are supporting the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.
The DEI acronym stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Critics of such policies argue that they are outright racist and exploit skin color or other demographics in the recruitment process. In other words, affirmative action. The Supreme Court recently ended its ruling on college admissions.
Reid said during a segment with host Lawrence O’Donnell that it was “very poetic” for black lawyers to go after Trump.
“But to me, there’s something wonderfully poetic about the fact that … the first person to actually criminally prosecute Donald Trump was a black Harvard graduate,” Reed said, smiling.
She then falsely suggested that former Trump officials “never” want to see black people at “Harvard Law School.”

MSNBC host Joy Reid then turned the focus to allegations of alleged election meddling in Georgia and a widely criticized civil fraud lawsuit in New York.
“A black woman did the same thing in Georgia, a black woman forced you to pay a $175 million fine,” Reed added.
She was referring to Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
“Donald Trump is being held accountable for the very multicultural, multiracial democracy that he is trying to destroy… it says something good about our country and that we are still capable of achieving that,” she said.
Reed then cheered and yelled, “Come on, DEI. My DEI is taking it home.”

Reed – Republicans oppose DEI because they can’t stand black people
In a career mired in mediocrity and absurdity, Joy Reid’s comments about DEI are impressive.
But it’s also telling in several ways:
- She admitted the prosecution was more about retaliation against people perceived to be racist than the law.
- This proves that DEI recruitment is fraught with pitfalls, as every one of those she praises has been widely derided by legal experts as either overachieving or generally incompetent in their jobs.
- With so many prominent black officials, there is little “systemic racism” worth feeling uncomfortable about.
Reid recently accused Republicans of opposing racist DEI hiring practices because they “can’t stand black people.”
“At this point, it’s pretty obvious what DEI means, right? It means black people. That’s why the right complains about critical race theory. It’s not fashionable to be overtly racist in America anymore, unlike in the so-called good old days,” she growled.
“So say what you mean,” Reid added. “You can’t stand black people. We get it. Your voice has been heard.
Reed has previously been criticized for bigoted, homophobic blog posts that she claimed were posted by hackers. MSNBC did not hold her accountable.
