The hostility began when Busch hit Stenhouse from behind, causing Stenhouse to fly into the wall.
According to NASCAR:
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove just two of the 200 laps in Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star race as his No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing Chevrolet battled with Kyle Busch Busch was eliminated after a dispute. With no pedestrian tunnels or bridges in the North Wilkesboro track infield, Stenhouse was forced to sit back and think.
So, he waited for the remaining 198 people to take revenge.
As post-race fireworks erupted behind them, Stenhouse and Busch got into a brief verbal altercation that escalated into a physical altercation between the two drivers and their crews in the NASCAR Cup Series garage. The altercation sparked memories of North Wilkesboro. Both drivers fell to the ground, and the frustration of the night and the entire season reached a breaking point.
“Bring it! I won’t give it. [expletive]. I’m just as bad as you! Less than a minute after Stenhouse hit Busch with a right hand to the left side of the face, Busch was yelling at his opponent.
